Designed as an accessible entry point for Japanese sword collectors and practitioners, it retains the forged, differentially hardened 1566 steel blade geometry that made the original Practical Katana a benchmark model, while adding welcome refinements to the mounting and construction. A key upgrade is the removable tsuka, replacing the glued handle construction of the earlier version and allowing more straightforward inspection and maintenance. The furniture has also been refreshed with new tooling for the tsuba, fuchi, kashira and menuki, giving the piece a cleaner, sharper appearance while keeping the durable synthetic handle components that help control cost and reduce sensitivity to humidity and perspiration.
