The Kingston Arms Renaissance Side Sword-New brings back a respected European sword design with important unseen improvements. Retooling of the guard, grip and pommel addresses the previous tendency for the grip to loosen after extended use, while restoring the crisp lines, clean fit and refined finish that made the original model so well regarded among collectors and historical sword enthusiasts. Based on an original German side sword from the Renaissance period, this design reflects the transitional character of 16th and 17th century European swords: lighter and quicker in the hand than many earlier forms, while retaining a capable edge profile and precise point control. The swept hilt offers generous hand coverage, and the 33" 5160 high-carbon steel blade is balanced with a 3 1/2" point of balance for an agile, responsive feel. Formerly associated with the CAS Hanwei European sword range, this model now sits under the Kingston Arms brand, keeping medieval and HEMA-oriented European designs together in one focused collection. A leather-covered scabbard is included. Please note that the sword is supplied disassembled, with the pommel, guard and handle packed separately.
