Meet the Bearcat, a non-locking friction folder from Silverback Knives. Named after the binturong, also known as the bearcat, it was conceived in the UK by knife user and collector Dan Webster with an emphasis on durability, practical utility and considered construction. Developed from a traditional friction-folder prototype in partnership with Silverback Knives, the finished design combines traditional lines with modern materials. The range includes root burl wood and micarta handle options; this model features green micarta. Construction details include steel liners, bronze washers, a brass pivot and a brass lanyard tube. A glow-in-the-dark backspacer aids visibility in low-light conditions, while the multi-tool tang also functions as a flathead screwdriver, bottle opener and pot lifter. The knife is supplied in a presentation box with a bespoke leather pouch that supports vertical or horizontal belt carry, neck carry with suitable cordage and attachment of compatible aftermarket clips using the spaced rivets. Practical, durable and designed for everyday utility tasks.
