Designed for safe use in fencing practice, the Renaissance Side Sword provides a realistic fencing experience for the renaissance period HEMA practitioner. Unique in the time of the primarily piercing oriented rapiers, the side sword kept the cut and thrust aspects of the late medieval arming swords and added the protection of a complex hilt hand guard. This side sword features thick well rounded edges and a rolled tip for greater thrusting safety. However with all fencing swords, affixing a rubber tip blunt or piece of leather strip taped to the tip is recommended.
