The Shamshir originated in Persia and became known across the former Ottoman Empire, India and the Philippines. Its distinctive design typically featured a strongly curved blade with a narrow cross-section, a simple brass or steel crossbar hilt, and a wood or animal-horn handle terminating in a bulbous, slightly offset pommel. The Cold Steel version closely follows this traditional form while using modern 1055 high carbon steel for the blade and black faux buffalo horn for the handle. It is supplied with a black leather and wood sheath reinforced with a brass throat and chape, complete with dual suspension rings. This collectible piece is intended for historical display only.
