Cold Steel Maasai Spear with Secure-Ex Sheath

The Maasai Spear with Secure-Ex Sheath by Cold Steel is a historically inspired collectible piece intended exclusively for historical display and appreciation of traditional design. It features the distinctive long, narrow blade profile, short wooden handle and heavy counterbalancing butt spike or shoe associated with this pattern. Each spear is cold-forged from high carbon steel and combined with a stout ash wood handle and sturdy counterbalancing spike. When fully assembled, it measures 6 ft long and weighs 3 lbs 2 ounces. Delivered unassembled, the Maasai Spear consists of three parts: the blade measures 22" long by 2" wide and is forged with a thick reinforcing rib that runs down the centre almost to the tip; the brown American ash shaft has a double taper and fits into twin sockets connecting the butt and blade; and the heavy solid steel butt spike is heat-treated to a hard spring temper. The Maasai Spear includes an injection-moulded Secure-Ex sheath to cover the edge and point during storage and transport.
