Its 5.0625-inch blade is made from 1095 Cro-Van steel, heat-treated to 56–58 HRC and finished with a flat grind. The clip-point profile supports controlled, versatile cutting, while the 0.165-inch blade thickness provides reassuring strength for more demanding tasks. Measuring 9.25 inches overall and weighing 0.65 lb, the EK50 balances robust construction with manageable proportions. Its black Ultramid handle is durable and practical, and the KA-BAR/Ek Commando tang stamp completes the distinctive finish. A MOLLE-compatible Celcon® sheath is included; both the knife and sheath are manufactured in the USA, with German steel used for the blade.
