Description
The Cold Steel SRK (Survival Rescue Knife) is a hardwearing, multipurpose outdoor and utility tool designed for demanding field use. This practical fixed blade is valued for its versatility and durability in challenging conditions. This classic design is now available in SK-5 high-carbon steel, the Japanese equivalent of American 1080 steel. It contains 0.75%–0.85% carbon and 0.60%–0.90% manganese. In its as-quenched condition, the steel has a hardness near Rc 65 and a structure comprising carbon-rich martensite with some small undissolved carbides. These carbides contribute to abrasion resistance, blade toughness and edge retention.
