Description
The Cold Steel Recon Tanto is a fixed-blade knife designed for demanding outdoor, field and professional utility. It features an angular reinforced point profile and durable construction for hardwearing use. This classic design is available in SK-5 high-carbon steel, the Japanese equivalent of American 1080 steel, with a carbon content of 0.75%-0.85% and manganese content of 0.60%-0.90%. As quenched, it has a hardness near Rc 65 and produces a mixture of carbon-rich martensite with some small undissolved carbides. The excess carbide contributes to abrasion resistance, blade toughness and edge retention.
