Government consultation on new knife legislation proposals to tackle the use of machetes and other bladed articles in crime

Let the government know what you think

The government want to ban “large” fixed blade knives and machetes.

They’ve opened a public consultation on this. If you’d like to take part in the consultation you can do so here:

https://www.homeofficesurveys.homeoffice.gov.uk/s/knife-legislation/

The above is a link to the survey itself.

If you’d like to read the information from the government about the new legislation, you can do so here:

It has a list of the questions about half way down the page which may be useful to read through before you start the survey.

Help us spread the message

What we’d like from you is information on any organisations you belong to which should be made aware of the government’s proposal. For example if you’re a farmer and you use machetes and you’re part of the National Farmers Union (NFU), then we’ll get in touch with them and make them aware of this. Or perhaps you use a large-fixed blade knife to make a hide when you’re shooting and you’re a member of BASC (British Association of Shooting and Conservation), we’ll get in touch with them and make them aware of this consultation. There are a plethora of uses for knives and machetes, and we’d like for everyone’s voice to be heard.
